Have you heard about YMAA?

Hello! I came across a few YMAA instructional DVDs a couple of years back and found them really helpful. Yang's Martial Arts Association (YMAA) is an organization founded by Dr. Jwing-Ming Yang (Chinese: 杨俊敏, pinyin yáng jùn mĭn), a certified Kung Fu Master by the International Kung Fu Federation. He underwent martial arts training (from age fifteen) for thirteen years under the Shaolin White Crane (Bai He) Master Cheng, Gin Gsao (曾金灶). Dr. Yang studied Tai chi chuan under Master Kao Tao (高濤). At age 17, Dr. Yang also began training Long Fist under Master Li, Mao-Ching (李茂清). He taught Taijiquan to his fellow students at Purdue University, the same educational institution where he earned his doctorate degree in Mechanical Engineering. Dr. Yang has twice been awarded Man of the Year by Inside Kung Fu Magazine (1990 and 2007), and Kung Fu Artist of the Year by Black Belt Magazine (2003).

4. Chin Na In Depth Bundle

9. Taiji Sword Bundle

I hope you will find these valuable resources. International shipping charges will cost at least 24.00 USD. Delivery will take about 2 to 4 weeks.

Principles of Tai Chi Practice

Like we have been discussing on the chat box, knowing the forms step by step is not enough. One should also understand the form in its deepest sense through diligent practice and study.

To improve one's practice, read about the Principles of Tai Chi Practice. There are many resources available to know about the Principles of Tai Chi Practice.

Here's one site that Lex found online:

Six Principles of Hunyuan
Tai Chi Practice

During his introductory remarks, Grandmaster Feng discussed six basic principles of Tai Chi practice.

They were:

1. Gentle is better than forceful.
2. Slow is better than fast
3. High is better than low.
4. Long is better than short.
5. Curved is better than straight.
6. Single-weighted is better than
double-weighted.

It may seem simple but there is more to it than you think.

Great site found by one of our PTN friends!

Alvin found a great site for all of us at www.taichi18.com!

You may download the videos (.wmv format) by clicking the links below:

Note: please follow downloading instructions. You will need to register to access the page but I have provided a username and password for PTN readers to use. Read more below.

I managed to register an account to access their Forum page. Here is the log in information in case you would like to get access without registering:

Username: ptn
Password: taichi

Since I am sharing my access code, please keep in mind the site's posting regulations. Thank you.

The site has a good forum page. I encourage you to post questions there. Wala masyadong gumagamit ng PTN forum page kaya I do not recommend using our forum... siguro kapag mas marami na tayong members, we can share tips and info through our own PTN forum page.

I also encourage everyone to contribute in this site. If you have stories, information, experiences, online links, pictures, kahit ano na makakatulong sa practice ng tai chi at iba pang martial arts please send it to the PTN email at earl.spartan@yahoo.com.

May the chi be with you!

Download Free Relaxation Music

I found a great site called "Musical Relaxation" where you can listen to or download (registration required) music for meditation and relaxation for free! The site also has a streaming radio.

Also good while practicing your Tai Chi forms!

Grounding Meditation

"One of the most important mind yoga meditations is learning to ground yourself. If you are properly grounded the other meditations will be more safe and balanced [excerpt from Grounding Meditation: the feet and tadasana (mountain pose)]."

This is true to Tai Chi as well. In the book The Way of Energy by Master Lam Kam Chuen, grounding techniques are taught before introducing other exercises and principles.
