Update: Spring of Harmony Internal Arts Club

Peace Blossoms Internal Arts Society

Borne from Spring of Harmony Internal Arts Club International (January 8, 2008 - February 6, 2010), Peace Blossoms Internal Arts Society is a non-profit, non-sectarian, and non-political recreational club with the mission of promoting and integrating peace and harmony in the myriad activities of daily life since a life lived in radiant peace blesses one with the natural treasures of health, wealth, success, and prosperity.

Such mandate Peace Blossoms seeks to achieve especially through the promotion of internal arts, primarily Tai Chi and Qigong, in achieving holistic health for the self and the community.

The transformation of Spring of Harmony to Peace Blossoms reflects a growth in the club's role in the midst of greater need and advocacy for peace in Philippine society and the world in general. Everyone is challenged to become a spring of harmony through a multiple of ways, but most especially in radiating thoughts, feelings, intents and energies of bubbling peace profound. Such radiation, when amplified by others' radiation, creates an energy field of creative peace that makes positive things happen.

Peace Blossoms is a next-level challenge as it is a positive affirmation. As a next-level challenge, it calls every advocate of peace to be pro-active, creative and zealous in injecting daily life with the manifold faces of peace. As a positive affirmation, peace blossoms indicates that peace efforts and initiatives done by individuals and sectors in society already positively result in situations, by-products, conditions and developments that further promote and make fertile the space in which peace can manifest in greater creativity, happiness, health, wealth and success.

With such intent, Peace Blossoms seeks pathways and reach out to diverse groups in society in the spirit of humanity and goodwill as it actively promotes Tai Chi and Qigong in harmonizing body, mind, spirit and emotions in oneness with Nature and the Cosmos.

PUSH HANDS IN GREENHILLS

Interested in Push Hands?

Regardless of your personal style (Bagua, Tai Chi, Xing Yi, etc.), come play push hands on Saturday mornings at the Greenhills Shopping Center, at the parking lot beside Gloria Maris.

I am a 15 year internal practitioner hoping to start a group where internal martial artists of any style can come together to practice free push hands with resisting but cooperative partners in a friendly, safe, and non-competitive environment. For those with no previous experience, I can teach a few basic patterns from which we can quickly progress to freestyle push hands.

- all internal martial artists are welcome
- all internal styles are welcome
- free style pushing is the main activity
- safety of participants is the top priority
- training is cooperative not competitive

IMPORTANT
Please remember to get in touch with me before you go to Greenhills. This group is still in it's infancy and there is yet no core group. Until such a core forms, I will be coordinating each meeting for interested participants.

I can be reached at pushhands.manila@gmail.com

A fun workout for kids, with training tips for students, parents, and teachers

Kung Fu for Kids is an instructional program that teaches children the basics of traditional Kung Fu in a fun and exciting way. It starts with a simple, follow-along workout that introduces calisthenics and the basic stances, blocks, punches and kicks of the YMAA kids curriculum. It ends with a short cool-down routine to help children improve their balance, breathing, and mental focus.

This video features Ben Warner, who has been a children's instructor since 2001, and several students of varying levels from the YMAA Boston class. Nicholas Yang, the President of YMAA, makes corrections while students demonstrate.

Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming makes a cameo appearance explaining the meaning of the Shaolin sun-and-moon greeting.

A detail section is also included with more advanced students demonstrating the techniques in greater detail for refined study.

Later sections offer Training Tips for older students, parents, and teachers, including:

  • Safety precautions to follow when practicing Kung Fu.
  • Benefits and purpose of Kung Fu training for Kids.
  • Appropriate time and place to use what has been learned.

The discipline and focus achieved through training Kung Fu extends to many other aspects of everyday activities in life, including academics, sports, music, and literature.

SPECIAL FEATURES: Easy follow-along workout • Cartoon Segways starring Shing (star) • Interviews with Teachers and Parents About the Benefits of Kung Fu for Kids

Have you heard about YMAA?

Hello! I came across a few YMAA instructional DVDs a couple of years back and found them really helpful. Yang's Martial Arts Association (YMAA) is an organization founded by Dr. Jwing-Ming Yang (Chinese: 杨俊敏, pinyin yáng jùn mĭn), a certified Kung Fu Master by the International Kung Fu Federation. He underwent martial arts training (from age fifteen) for thirteen years under the Shaolin White Crane (Bai He) Master Cheng, Gin Gsao (曾金灶). Dr. Yang studied Tai chi chuan under Master Kao Tao (高濤). At age 17, Dr. Yang also began training Long Fist under Master Li, Mao-Ching (李茂清). He taught Taijiquan to his fellow students at Purdue University, the same educational institution where he earned his doctorate degree in Mechanical Engineering. Dr. Yang has twice been awarded Man of the Year by Inside Kung Fu Magazine (1990 and 2007), and Kung Fu Artist of the Year by Black Belt Magazine (2003).
